“Imagine that the world is a circle, that God is the center, and that the radii are the different ways human beings live. When those who wish to come closer to God walk towards the center of the circle, they come closer to one another at the same time as to God. The closer they come to God, the closer they come to one another. And the closer they come to one another, the closer they come to God.”
– St. Dorotheus of Gaza, Instructions VI.

New here, thanks for the quote. I will add it to my collection of epigraphs.
I should add, in parting, that I am The Theoretician with the ultimate theory.
Peace,

That is beautiful!
I’ve always had a similar image. But in my image, all the people, standing all around, are viewing God from a different angle. And all too much of what passes for religious conflict is nothing more than people saying, from their vantage point, “Oh, this is how God appears!” and someone else saying, “No, God isn’t that – God is this!”
And the image you quoted makes mine even better. For it tells us that when we draw ever neared to God, and to each other, those differences must fade as we see God’s loving care for each of us.
